Observe the summer solstice by taking some time from the longest day of the year to sit with nature and look for something awesome in the forest. We will revisit ancient traditions and ways of sensing the natural world that modern society has forgotten. Richard Gosnell, Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide and astronomy lecturer, will discuss how the energy of the summer solstice has affected society in ancient times through today. He will also teach how to reconnect with the more than human world by practicing some basic skills of mindfulness and meditation. When performed repeatedly, these practices will encourage a deeper connection with the outdoors; relax and quiet an overactive mind; and enhance greater sensitivity to the patterns of nature.
